In plain English: we earn a commission when you buy through our links, and here is exactly how that works.

The short version
Lid & Larder is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com.
When you click a product link on this site and buy something, we receive a commission from the retailer. It costs you nothing extra — the price is the same as it would be if you had gone to Amazon directly.
How to spot a paid link
Every commercial link on this site is marked. You will see #ad underneath every buy button, along with a link back to this page. Product links also route through a redirect at /go/ before reaching the retailer, and carry the rel="sponsored nofollow" attribute that tells search engines the link is commercial.
Links to the National Center for Home Food Preservation, university extension services and manufacturers’ own specification pages are not commercial links. Those are sources. We do not earn anything if you follow them, and we would like you to.
Who we earn from
At the moment, Amazon only. Our Amazon Associates tracking ID is lidandlarder-20. We are not currently members of any other affiliate network, and we do not build tracked links for programs we have not joined — a link to a manufacturer’s own site here earns us nothing and exists because it is the source of a specification.
If that changes, this page changes with it, before any new link ships.
What the commission does not change
- What we recommend. Picks are screened against the NCHFP’s published canner requirements before any commercial consideration. The standard is written out on how we pick.
- The order things appear in. Rankings reflect our reasoning about published specifications, not commission rates.
- What we tell you to skip. Every roundup on this site names something we would not buy, and says why. That is the structural check on the conflict, and you should hold us to it.
- The price you pay. Never any higher for using our links.
What we do not accept
- Free products in exchange for coverage
- Sponsored placements or paid rankings
- Payment to remove or soften criticism of a product
- Any editorial input from a manufacturer or retailer
About the prices you see
Prices come from a live data feed and are displayed with the date they were verified. A price older than 48 hours disappears rather than going stale, and where there is no live price the button reads “check price on Amazon” and takes you to the current one. We never print a number from memory.
Prices, availability and product details change constantly and are controlled by the retailer, not by us. The price on the retailer’s page at the time of purchase is the one that applies.
